Songs from the Underground

"Songs from the Underground" is a book of personal poetry by Alaskan author Caitlin M.S. Buxbaum. It is her first book of poems and contains her own photographs and visual art. The included poems were written primarily in the spring of 2012, when she was enrolled in a poetry class with former Poet Laureate of Minnesota Joyce Sutphen as an undergraduate student at Gustavus Adolphus College. In this collection, themes of love, travel, family, religion, mortality, judgment and nature are expressed in various forms of poetry, such as the etheree, sonnet, free verse, haiku, pantoum, prose poem and song. Note: This book contains some profane language and adult themes.

Reviews
Der Vang, Gustavus Adolphus College alumna

“Simply genius! [Buxbaum] executes so many different poetic techniques; every poem is unique and refreshingly well-written. So many different emotions are displayed in each poem...it really makes [the reader] wonder what she has gone through to write such masterpieces. I loved it!”

Emmie Belpedio, Gustavus Adolphus College alumna

“[Buxbaum's] poems are invigorating to the reader.... [Songs from the Underground is] perfectly begun and perfectly ended.”
