Starling: Love in Los Angeles Book 1
Hollywood's newest star, 21-year-old J. Alex Cook never wanted to be famous, he just wanted to get out of Indiana. When he hooks up with Paul, a writer on a hit TV show, Alex is thrown into a web of relationships involving friends, lovers, and everything in between. Forced to figure out what it means to live -- and love -- in the public eye, Alex's quest to find his own happily ever after will make you believe love is possible... even in Los Angeles. Please be aware, this is a high-heat, high-angst romance and includes characters with a past history of self-harm.
Reviews
In a bright start to a contemporary series, McRae and Maltese (A Queen from the North) set up a sizzling romance on the Los Angeles set of a TV show. Young, freckled production assistant J. Alex Cook tosses a sassy line at star actor Liam, and after they banter with cameras running, the show runner decides Alex should have a recurring part. Alex’s turn in front of the cameras quickly leads to an unexpected—and unwanted—degree of fame. Meanwhile, show writer Paul Keane is very drawn to Alex, who has never dated anyone, and soon the two of them are having mind-blowing sex. Alex, who grew up in homophobic Indiana and is nervous about his fans’ obsessed attention, wants Paul to be discreet about their relationship, but Paul loves public displays of affection and thinks Alex worries too much. After a fight just before Alex travels to shoot on location, Paul goes back to his ex and Alex hooks up with Liam. But Alex still longs for Paul, calling and texting him and shaking their already fragile emotional states. Nonstop drama will have readers racing to the satisfying end of this very enjoyable romance. Carly's Book Reviews

"STARLING is a reader's treasure that completely engaged me from the very beginning.... The realities of life, love and self discovery that are presented in this highly character driven story are exceptional. STARLING is well written and develops at a slow but steady pace that perfectly complements its raw emotionalism."

Planet Jinxatron

"What sucked me into this series is how it honors the reality that relationships can be really hard and painful, especially when people have experienced trauma, while also supplying meet-cute, sexy, and heart breakingly tender moments.... The authors clearly love every single character, even and especially when they’re being self-destructive, and so they give each one people in their lives who have a deep capacity to understand and care for them in various important ways. That caring is one of the most significant characteristics of this series IMHO..."
