I have written a short report about domestic violence two weeks ago and knew that the cases are high especially for women. I have never thought I would be emotional while reading the story, mixed emotions actually. First I have hated david, at the same time I wanted to be the protagonists friend, who would tell her and help her escape. But her story was not an easy case of just leaving behind a tragic situation, there was some complex situations.
I pity David, because I know he's just a victim of his illness.I also understand the initial reaction of the protagonist to stay, sometimes you cannot just leave a person behind because he did something bad to you. The love and the hope that somehow he would change would still recur especially when he treats you better right after. Forgiveness it is, but I commend the protagonist as she chooses to save the life of his son Alex and herself. Though it was not an initial success as David was still messing up their lives, i was still happy it ended well. Or else I'll have a very saddened heart.
This is a great story for all who experience or who knows someone who experiences domestic violence in any form. Statistics also revealed that increasing death due to domestic violence had been noted. With this fact, we should be more conscious about this issue and be vigilant with the partners that we would have.
Kudos to the author!
