Temple of the Mermaid

"Joy wept tears of rapture and exhausted over-stimulation that shed away from her face and disappeared into the sea. I'm a big fan of your aesthetic! She was overcome with emotion-her childhood dreams were coming true right in front of her eyes: Mermaids were real!"

- Temple of the Mermaid

Joy, a young blue collar cheese factory worker discovers a portal to an ocean world of mermaids, sea monsters, sharks, and telepathy. She is taken captive and is forced to become a laborer in an undersea temple, the denizens of which assume she is a Naiad. Joy grows gills and begins to change further. Time is running out. Joy must escape and find home or turn into a mermaid herself, an outcome she finds ... maybe wouldn't be such a bad thing.

"Hi Readers. Joy here. Yeah ... I was pretty jacked when I first laid eyes on all of them, I won't lie."

"Look, I don't NOT want to be a mermaid; all majestic and junk. Frankly it looks kind of uncomfortable. Plus, I went through puberty once already, and at age 24, I don't want to go through all that again. (sigh) ... I might be more on-board with the whole thing, if only someone could explain to me how an effing Mermaid's plumbing works!"

"I'm down for a good seafood cleanse, though."

"I grew these uh ... these neck gills when I first got here. And that might be good enough for now, you know?"

"Baby steps, right? ... Or fin-flaps ... or something."

"I think I'm having caffeine and cigarette withdrawals."
