The Butcher's Bill (The Linus Schag, NCIS, Thrillers Book 2)
In Iraq, a shipment of $9 billion in cash goes missing. Each effort to find it ends in death. In Southern California, a mercenary's murder, a severed head, and a bloody hand-written message spark a massive manhunt. The man connecting these two events is William Butcher, aka The Butcher. Those who stole the money want him dead. The cops want him for murder. Butcher's only hope is his former NCIS colleague and closest friend, Linus Schag. Torn between loyalties, Schag walks the thin line between doing his job or betraying his friend. Working from opposite ends, Schag and Butcher peel back the layers of conspiracy, revealing a criminal enterprise reaching into the highest levels of government. Torn from today's headlines, the plot of The Butcher's Bill ranges from the California mountains to the waters of the Pacific, and will keep readers on edge until its final, explosive climax.
Reviews
Goodreads

Loved this book!
Highly original plot, engaging, sympathetic characters, non-stop action, and plot twists up the ying-yang. NCIS agent Linus Schag is chasing an old friend who appears to have ‘gone rogue’ and embarked on a killing spree, and, in the process, uncovers high-level corruption and the theft of billions during the Iraq war. Kept me reading to the last page.

Goodreads

There was a large conglomerate, Gordias, behind a lot of missing money in Iraq and it was run by an American politician from the shadows. Bill Butcher, a former NCIS agent's personal agenda was to avenge some wrongs he witnessed while he was deployed in Iraq including that missing money. Hill now begins the intricate plot that sends Bill Butcher and his best friend Linus Schag, another NCIS agent into a tale that includes murder, kidnapping, and extortion. As Bill commits some violent acts, Linus wonders if a medication he was given for malaria is at the root of his rogue behavior. Bill's relentless pursuit of his agenda ultimately is successful, but a deadly price. His last words to Linus were I will get him. This is an amazing novel.
