In 1907, 22-year old best friends Lily, a widow with 2 toddlers and Carly, a single dressmaker, travel to Alberta. Lily has a live-in job waiting; depressed since her young husband's sudden death, she hopes a new environment will help heal her heart. Carly plans to open a dress shop. She reluctantly left a good business to accompany her friend. En Route, they meet the handsome and personable Lawson brothers who are accompanying a load of cattle for their ranch.
