When Caitlin Tilson pulls into Vine Grove, Kentucky, she's forty-six years old, newly retired from the Army and the unwilling caretaker to an angry sixteen-year old boy whose mother, Caitlin's former lover, deserted them both months before. Caitlin knows a lot about being left behind. She doesn't have very many good memories of her sister Charlie, who left the family decades ago, and she's hoping that by returning to the place where her wandering family was happiest she might be able to reconnect with Charlie, and regain some of the good memories of her she knows are somewhere in her mind. She doesn't plan on meeting Lisa, a former Riot Grrl and current smartass. And she certainly doesn't plan on falling in love. But Caitlin is about to discover that some plans are always going to be broken, and sometimes the best memories people make, are new ones.
