"The Great Boomsky" brings to life the previously unknown world of early African American magicians. Boomsky is the beloved comic assistant of the great magician, Alexander Herrmann (1844-1896). The Boomsky character becomes a training ground and launching pad a series of African American teens. Nine former Boomskys defy segregation to become successful magicians and comedians, inspiring a new generation of Black variety entertainers.
