The main theme of Emily Gallo’s latest novel ‘The Last Resort’ is kindness. It is a novel which, with great ease has depicted believing fellow humans just for the mere reason of being human ; which we have now lost, for reasons both valid and not.
I read this one over a long chunk of time and it was nice to keep coming back to. I liked that the story would take on different aspects of each character and explore them little bits at a time. All the characters came from very different backgrounds and it was interesting to see them all at this little safe haven working together as a little family.
"The overarching theme was one of redemption and belonging. At our core, human beings need connection with others. Even the worst of us. Even the most broken of us. The redemption theme of Last Resort reminds us that we all deserve a second chance, and with a little hard work and understanding for one another, we can all have one."
This is such a beautiful story about coming together, bonding, forming unexpected friendships and a bunch of complete strangers becoming their own little version of a family!
"Overall, this expressive character-driven story is about people who are given a second chance in life, finding new friends and family, and finding acceptance and love when one needs it most. If you enjoy reading unique stories filled with new beginnings and a bit of suspense, give this book a try."
