Her fate rests with the map…

Mel’s life is now ripped apart and lying in shambles. Still, she knows she must continue her quest, as driven by a connection with the Sky People, and a link to the stars.

She resumes her search for the Orb, a device given to her father by a dying alien. Its purpose draws her to it. She learns it reveals a map of defined points of energy around the world, and her father went on expeditions to study them before he died. Now, it is up to her to find the Orb and finish his work.

But someone comes into her life and changes it forever. She may need to leave home and lose her close friends, possibly forever. And all through this, her relationship with Frankie falters, regains footing, and falters again as Mel tries to keep a balance between love and deceit—afraid to know which will win out.

Then she discovers a truth she refuses to believe and runs away from home, leaving it and Portland behind. But running from what, and into what?

She meets with a professor who worked with her father and has a film of him with the Orb. She is desperate to see it, knowing the film is sure to reveal more about the Orb and its quest. But in the process, death and destruction find their hold.
