Have you ever heard a trombone in action? How about a guitar? Do you know what they look like or how young must you be to play in a band? What is a band? Follow a hometown hero’s path to a new passion. Joe was a Texas-born United States veteran who traveled the world. He was brave in his own right and finding himself in need of something to do when he retired in Delaware… both times! His passion for music played a recurring tune – he really wanted to play his instruments. It made him happy! There was just one problem – Joe grew up! There wasn’t a band for miles for adults to join. Read his exciting tale to see how Joe, our Granddaddy, solved this problem for himself and an entire community of musicians.

What an amazing Children's book with so much history about Music and Mr. Joe Lear. If you want to help Children learn about the importance of Music and instruments this is the book for you. Can't wait to read it to the Daycare kids. I can't wait for the Author's next book.

I am married to my own music man - it was so fun to read this book, the love of music just jumped off the pages. It would be a great way to show children that they don't have to just play one instrument and that they can continue to play even when they grow up!!

If you have a child who loves music this is a really fun read.

Local author publishes first children’s book

Jennifer Antonik believes that reading is extremely important to children and, since she loved telling stories of her own, it was only natural that she would write a children’s book.

She found that her writing talent, her love of reading and her ability to tell a story combined nicely in writing books aimed toward children.

“There’s something special about watching a child’s eyes light up when you lead them on a new adventure or tell them something they didn’t know,” Antonik said. “It’s that joy of life that inspired me to start writing children’s books, especially with my Granddaddy’s story in mind.”

Antonik’s first book, “The Music Man:  Our Rootin’, Tootin’ Hero,” was recently published and released on Christmas Day.
