This book presents a newly translated and annotated rendition of Miquel Costa i Llobera's renowned ode "The Pine of Formentor," originally released in Catalan in 1885. It provides an overview of the historical context surrounding the work and the poet, along with annotations and illustrations of Mallorca island, his place of origin. Despite Costa i Llobera's acclaim for his lyrical contributions in Catalonia or the Balearic Islands, his literary impact has remained somewhat unknown outside of his homeland, largely due to the marginalization of the Catalan language during the Franco dictatorship. Thus, the release of this multilingual annotated edition in English serves as a tribute to the centenary of the poet's passing in 1922, bridging a gap and emphasizing the significance of "The Pine of Formentor" as one of Spain's most inspiring and ecological literary works.
