The Pinocchios: Long Lost Logs of a Family Tree
The Pinocchios, a family tree cut apart into five logs by Tin Woodman, find themselves whisked from the Land of Oz by a cyclone and into the possession of the master craftsman, Geppetto, in Italy. Discovering that these five logs are alive, Geppetto learns the three smaller logs are children and the two larger ones their parents. He carves the children into live puppets and the parents he fashions into Greek god candlesticks who can light and extinguish their own candles. After the kidnap of the parents, the children seek the help of a detective agency, run by sleuth Dorothy, her gumshoe partner Scarecrow who is now blind, and Scarecrow’s seeing-eye hound, Toto. The trail of the missing parents leads the detectives and puppets to the moors of Dartmoor, and eventually to the Whale Inn in New Bedford where the parents are perched on the tavern bar, forced to entertain gruff Caribbean pirates. With the unlikely presence of Tin Woodman and Lion, Dorothy plots a wacky and rousing rescue.
