The Recovery Formula: An Addict’s Guide to Getting Clean and Sober Forever by Beth Burgess is a guide for anyone addicted to alcohol or drugs who is ready to do something about it. Beth proposes a four-point approach. She tells people they must: 1) Get Honest, which is getting real about your problem, stopping the justifications and excuses. 2) Get Held, getting used to remaining sober and without Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome. 3) Get Committed, one has to be willing, always and every time and 4) Get Replacements, getting rid of anything that identifies you as someone who drinks too much or takes drugs. Above all, each of those who are interested in de-addiction will have to work out how they can apply the Recovery Formula to their own life to make it work for them.
The Recovery Formula: An Addict’s Guide to Getting Clean and Sober Forever by Beth Burgess is written with those people in mind, who have a strong desire to give up using drugs, or to stop drinking, but have no idea how to go about it. It is possible that they had tried to stop using or drinking on numerous occasions, but they kept relapsing. Beth talks about the essential elements underlying recovery in a beautiful and simple style. The path of recovery suggested here has her personal experience behind it. The advice has the potential to be easy for people who want to recover from a substance abuse problem. An excellent book indeed.
