If your children like animals, and what child does not like animals, they will delight in The Rowdy Randy Wild West Show: The Legend Behind the Legend. Casey Rislov uses animals from the west to showcase the unique abilities of the different animals. This story is illustrated by Zachary Pullen and is presented as the precursor to Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show. There are thirty animals involved in Rowdy’s show. The show’s high point is when a unique animal is ridden into the area by Rowdy. At the end of the book, Casey asks the young reader how many animals they can find, then provides a list of animals for the children to look for.

Have you ever been to a circus and seen all the animal acts? In The Rowdy Randy Wild West Show, Casey Rislov tells the story of the animals that perform. Do you know what a dung beetle looks like or a black-footed ferret? Do you know the proper name of the American Buffalo? After reading this book, you will know the answers to all these questions and many more. In which event of the show would you expect to see crickets and who would the crickets compete against? Children will be excited to see all the animals and learn about their unique abilities. Read this book with your children and teach them how to respect animals and learn how the different animals survive in the wild.
