The Sands of Abzu, written by author Nassim Odin, is a tale from ancient Persia, from the times long before Alexander. Readers become acquainted with the Sands and learn they have plenty of secrets. For example, when it gets heated, they turn into glowing glass.

In those times where this story is set, there lived a young and lively man whose name was Fardad. He has a superpower–a gift. He has the ability to gain information about objects or people through extrasensory perception. Thanks to this gift he possesses, he now has to
decode more than just people or mere objects, but also the book of astrology after enduring some ordeals such as entering the caves, ascending the mountains and fighting the manticores. He must reach the legendary place called Abzu, which lies hidden deep somewhere in the Zagros mountains of Persia. Whether he will be able to reach that place, fulfill his duty, and bring back the code is what keeps readers hooked until the very last page.

Nassim Odin proves he is a master with writing skills. He has been able to capture the magical essence of ancient times–times we have not been able to see with our own eyes. Thanks to the descriptions and mental images the story encourages us to create, we may even think we have walked along the streets, traveled along the roads, and lived in ancient Persia ourselves.

The Sands of Abzu, by Nassim Odin, is a fantastic plot-driven book of adventure, magic, and mystery centered around events that keep us on the edge of our seats at all times. It is extremely professionally written, and I felt this author has put in a great deal of work and planning in creating this story. Creating a rich story where one can reach out and touch the possibilities is not easy and I, as a reader, have not experienced these types of books very often in my life.

The Sands of Abzu: A Tale from Ancient Persia is a historical fantasy book written by author Nassim Odin. The colorful cover of the book caught my attention at first glance. The author takes readers into an imaginative world in ancient Persia where we follow a clairvoyant named Fardad. He is appointed the king’s minister and gets tasked with getting clues to decode the book of astrology.

Author Odin has created a fascinating read with a story that is easy to follow. The book is on the longer side but the adventure Fardad goes on is intriguing and you will find yourself reading this book fairly quick. Nassim’s world-building is impressive as you are able to clearly imagine each scene as we join Fardad on his journey. I enjoyed Nassim’s creative storytelling and I found this book hard to put down. The plot is easy to follow and not one that I come across too often.

Odin’s descriptions are so vivid, it was easy for me to imagine the characters and scenes clearly in my head. And the rich description is complemented by the map at the beginning, which helps readers with imagery, allowing them to fully immerse themselves in the story.

In addition, the characterization is exceptional. The protagonist Fardad, a young clairvoyant, is flawlessly rendered and his adventures are well-developed. Readers may or may not empathize with him, but they will surely enjoy his hazardous and action-packed journey.

The Sands of Abzu: A Tale from Ancient Persia, by Nassim Odin, is an entertaining tale aimed at science fiction and fantasy lovers, although it can be enjoyed by any reader who enjoys adventure and the extraordinary, as well as historical ancient fiction. All these elements are perfectly woven by the author. This is the first book I read from him, and it will not certainly be the last one.

The Sands of Abzu: A Tale from Ancient Persia is a fantasy novel by Nassim Odin. This excellent story follows Fardad, a young man, as he embarks on a journey to a legendary place called Abzu. He encounters numerous challenges and discoveries that force him to grow and develop as a powerful clairvoyant/astrologer and fulfill his destiny. His quest takes him through some breathtaking landscapes in Persia, which are skilfully recreated and described by the author.

One of my favorite things about reading a book is reaching that point where you just can’t put it down. It’s always magical to feel immersed in another world. Some books draw you in right away, and some do it slowly but steadily. And this is what has happened to me with The Sands of Abzu. The narrative starts to build at a slow pace, introducing and developing the main character to transform more or less halfway into a thrilling and compelling epic fantasy.
The prose is simple and pleasant to read and follow. The plot is imaginative and creative and has a good balance of action and introspection. Set in an ancient Persian world, the desert and mountain settings provide interesting landscapes and dilemmas for the main character.

What I liked most about this book are the characters. The main character is very well constructed and thought out. It is interesting to see his evolution and development as a person and how he changes and grows with each challenge he has to face. The world-building, the description of social relations and the interactions between the characters are also very well done. I really enjoyed The Sands of Abzu: A Tale from Ancient Persia, by Nassim Odin, and I highly recommend it.
