The Warehouse Tour by K.A. Cummins is a short story that follows Jill as she attempts to find out what happened to her brother Josh after he mysteriously disappears. Jill, Josh, and a small group of friends are waiting in line for a popular haunted "Warehouse Tour", with tickets being collected by the elusive, medallion wearing, redheaded high school hottie named Amber, who is prophetically described as always smelling like warm, toasted honey. At the last moment, Jill decides not to go inside the warehouse and agrees to wait for the rest of the group to come out. When they never do, Jill discovers that many others are also missing. Her mother and the police are unable to help, and it falls to Jill to find out what happened. She's left with no choice but to enter the warehouse alone.

This story is unique and I enjoyed it. This is a really fun read, and both Jill and Amber were surprisingly well drawn characters given the usual limitations of a short story. It's enticing enough to make a reader want to keep flipping the pages, aided (rather than hindered) by the book's length in knowing that it wouldn't be long before we found out what happened. It does, at times, feel slightly rushed and could definitely use some polishing by a good editor, but the author offers readers balanced, even handed storytelling, creativity, and a unique plot. At no point in reading The Warehouse Tour by K.A. Cummins did I suspect how this would end, and would recommend this short escapade to anyone who likes horror and sci-fi...with a side of honey.
