Stunning historic thriller
Thomas Jefferson Survives by C.J. Hayek is a historical thriller about the United States President Thomas Jefferson in his old age coming across a Native American serum used in religious ritual to mimic death, but he decides to mainline (inject) a ridiculous amount of it to see if it will allow him to see how the United States is fairing in the far future.
Thomas Jefferson is adjusting well to life in the 2000s era, but there is a sinister new world order type of group working in the background, trying to create a one government world in their lust and greed for more power and wealth. A distant relative of Thomas Jefferson, Tom, a lawyer going through a really weird place in his life with his employment situation, and potential legal trouble, is sent to watch him but they strike up a close friendship.. This group is monitoring Thomas Jefferson with malicious intent..
This book is delightfully unexpected. It’s fast paced, it’s interesting, the author has a keen attention to detail I appreciate, not just with facts about Thomas Jefferson’s life but also with location details. As a resident of Northern Virginia I was pleasantly surprised to see his mentioning of I-66, morning traffic, but also getting placement information right about the Rotunda and the Lincoln Memorial. I was hoping to find out more about the author to see if he lived in Virginia because his knowledge of the area is superb.
I highly recommend this book to history buffs who may enjoy a more fanciful side of what if. It’s funny, it’s interesting, it’s fast paced. The plot twists had me guessing all the way through.
