Author
Tory Roof

Adult; General Fiction (including literary and historical); (Market)

Tory Roof is the first book in the Sutherland Series -- historical fiction with a touch of paranormal. Parallel plots unfold in the course of a year, linking the present day with 1765. This is very much a woman's story that pits logic against longing, unfolding autumn to autumn against a rich New England backdrop. Sarah Sutherland didn’t go looking for the adventure that engulfed her. She was a modern woman -- a mom and real estate agent, who accepted her routine life -- until she encountered a fiery Revolutionary War agitator in a vintage home she was selling. Rather than fear him, she was drawn to him physically and emotionally. Soon she found herself embroiled in the fight for independence with a passion she had long forgotten. Struggling to reconcile her two realities, Sarah slowly discovers that the people around her are not as they seem and that her life is in danger. In time, she learns why she was chosen for an escape most women could only imagine.

5.0 out of 5 starsGreat story with beautiful historical details

This book is wonderful. The characters are compelling, and Baker's ability to write about historical details is beautiful and eloquent. I learned so many facts about the time period that were nicely interwoven into the story! The romance between the characters was captivating, and I thought the plot was really multidimensional. I can't wait for the next one in the series to come out!

Tory Roof is a wonderful story with lots of great elements. The historical facts are well researched and add a great depth and richness to the tale. The characters are well portrayed and easy to picture in your mind as you read. The time travel aspect from the current day setting gives the reader a unique perspective into the beginning of the American Revolution.
