Transcription is a futuristic sci-fi thriller set in space. Written by Tyler Michael, the novel chronicles the events that occur between March 17, 2071, and May 30, 2072. A private company named Paradigm CS in partnership with the US Department of Defence conducts a top-secret project named Transcription aboard the spacecraft Avalon, involving genetic testing and engineering. Lt. John Michael Everett is called upon to investigate when the first human trial of Transcription goes horribly wrong and results in the death of crew member Carrie Donovan. After volunteering himself for the subsequent trial, Everett wakes up a year later in the midst of an ongoing coup. Everett must now proceed with caution, as not everything is as it seems, and quickly locate his AI companion Peggy.

Transcription is a thrilling page-turner of a novel that blends sci-fi with elements of horror and suspense, with a tone that closely resembles movies such as Danny Boyle's Sunshine. Armed with an intricate plot that is suitably complemented by a unique narrative style, Tyler Michael's novel hooks you in from the very first pages and doesn't let go till the end. The plot moves at a fast pace with plenty of twists and turns along the way to captivate the reader. The characters feel realistic, and Tyler Michael provides well-written backstories to make them relatable. I found the procedure of mapping and rebuilding an individual's cognitive state a deeply fascinating subject. On the whole, I thoroughly enjoyed Transcription, and I would highly recommend it to sci-fi readers.
