Barbara Woster did such an incredible job in “Victim of Love”. In 300 pages, she managed to write an incredibly believable scenario and novel that had me drawn to many of the characters in such a personal way. As often as I read, it isn’t very common for me to be so torn regarding my feelings for one of the main characters in so many different ways, but Woster managed to create a story that had me up and then down, and then undecided, then back down, etc. In the end, we decided ultimately that we hate the guy, but the drama that the end of this story brings makes it hard to have positive feelings towards anyone other than the main character Cara.

The character development for Cara was an absolute masterpiece. I love that Woster started her off so strong minded and outspoken. It was inspiring for women all over, and definitely for me. This character was put through absolute HELL and back time and time again but always managed to keep her head up, and find a way to be strong through it. While the ending of the story was not exactly what I was hoping for (I mean, who doesn’t love a happy ending, but how rarely we get these in reality, I 100% understand why it wasn’t crafted this way), I still think that Woster managed to take a terrible situation, and create an uplifting mood for Cara heading towards the future. This book was absolutely incredible and such an interesting read. I would highly recommend.

I absolutely loved this book. One of my favorites from this author. It's closer to being realistic than most romance novels and I couldn't put it down. I felt for the characters, hated them, questioned their actions and just overall couldn't wait to see how the book ended. LOVED IT!

Yet,this book drew me in just from reading the sample. I was hooked!
Well written, dealing very well researched, and frankly incredibly moving.
Have your tissues ready, all is not as it seems.
The novel is gripping, one woman's story of amazing courage in a time women were not truly considered intelligent or capable.
I did not expect the ending, certainly did not expect many things Cara went through and overcame. I am not sorry I read this book, it was exemplary! I just wish, ...
Yet, Cara is an inspiration to anyone, let alone women!
Excellent read!

Victim of Love is a historical romance with a strong-willed, beautiful heroine who is the object of two men obsessing over her. The opening chapter will grab you and never let you go, mainly because Cara is an incredibly watchable heroine. We care about Cara through all the plot twists and obsessing by the men in her life. The story is fantastic and the main character is so fascinating, I wanted to follow her from book to book.

I read for the enjoyment of getting lost in the story and experiencing things I could never experience in real life. This book delivers. I dont enjoy a lot of description--I prefer to live the story through action like I'm in the scene. Barbara does this very well. I loved the use of different viewpoints within the same scene. This was the norm in the past and a lot of the older books I read are in this style. I think it allows the author to provide more depth and understand. I like it. No negatives for me 👏
