Theodora “Teddy” Sharpe, age 12, and her twin brother, Thad, join their father at Camp Verde, a military post near San Antonio, where he is in charge of putting cavalrymen on camels to replace horses in the American West. While seeking a relationship with the father she hasn’t seen in over a year, Teddy jumps into adventures with spitting, biting and bucking camels, as well as scorpions, rattlesnakes, Gila monsters, Indians, and must solve the mystery of the identity of a stealthy enemy determined to sabotage her father’s camel project.
