What If We Pray
Lacey Rozell, author
Imagine creating a rhythm; a habit to pray while feeling heard, encouraged and loved. Do you ever feel unsure of where to start or what to say? What if thriving as a christian can be obtained when built on a flourishing prayer life?
If so, there is a simple place to start: What if We Pray?
In my research I found that there are three parts to a thriving christian life:
Prayer
Study of Scripture
Practicing Righteousness (this includes confession of sin and obedience to God)
Prayer is foundational and it’s where we should start. The title What if We Pray? reflects a question I started asking myself in my most desperate hour and have been shocked at the results. This book is my testimony of what I’ve learned when I have intentionally set aside time and boldly prayed.
In What if We Pray, I share stories of how growing up in the church, I learned to read the bible and all the rules and requirements but it wasn’t until I started trying to understand the actual relationship with God that I started producing the promised fruits of the spirit written in scripture. The actual relationship with God in prayer sparked my journey of developing and thriving as a Christian and I can honestly say that I now enjoy God when I pray and understand scripture more fully. I spent hours researching the topics of christian joy and flourishing while over and over again my research led me to the topic of prayer. I began to read every book I could find on prayer and dug through scripture to find a process for myself. A process that I now want to share with you. Just like in marriage, there are actions that can help and actions that can hurt it. The same thing is true in our relationship with God. These seven principles aren’t meant to be a formula, they are meant to be an invitation. In each chapter, I share stories from my own life that have helped me fully grasp these principles with the hope that they can also help you. The seven principles are simple:
1. God Wants a Relationship with you
2. Know Your Bible
3. Know Your God
4. Listening in the Silence
5. Humbly Submit
6. Confess and Forgive
7. Meditate on Truth
This book will make you laugh, make you think and give your practical ways to practice enjoying God in daily prayer. A successful prayer life isn’t just for the missionary or preacher, it is for the stay-at-home mom, business man, first grade teacher and college student. It is for you.
