This was a sweet read for children. It felt very age appropriate and helpful for children navigating the presidential election, as well as to inspire children to think about working in politics. I loved the pictures and the words. This is an excellent children’s book! 

I love the energy from this story! I can read it to my kids and feel the empowerment radiating in them and on each page. I am so glad it has a companion activity book to help foster the idea of reaching for your dreams as president. This is perfect for the 2024 election cycle even though female representation is lacking in the candidates on both isles, it does not have to lack in the hearts and imaginations of children around the country! Beautiful story and looking forward to reading more from her book series.

In 2020 the United States of America finally voted its first female vice president into office. It was a historical moment for little girls everywhere. It was a momentous day for the little girls who grew up dreaming of seeing a woman in high office. I was one of them.

Sadly, since that day, more attacks on women’s rights have taken place leaving our spirits and bodies vulnerable.

Instead of recognizing the crucial role women play in society, we are witnessing ongoing assaults on women and girls’ rights.

The book refocuses the lens on how crucial respected women are to a healthy society. It provides a spotlight on how little girls can still achieve great things.

One might say this is a call to action for leaders of the world to step up and do the right thing for everyone no matter their race, religion, gender, or cultural background.

The book is intended for young children but citizens of all ages would benefit from reading and reflecting on the aspirational traits the president in this story possesses. Traits like honesty, courage, active listening, and problem-solving that parents and educators strive to instill in children.

The female characters break down gender norms through the clothes they wear and the professions where they work. The main character is a female President of the United States. There are female Secret Service Agents and male and female advisors to the president.

The president motivates a diverse population from different cultures to strive for greatness as a united front. She is a role model for youngsters, an example for aspiring politicians to remember they have a duty to public service that includes the environment and everything in it.

The text of the story is affirmational but concise. Ramesh Ram’s bright illustrations bolsters the text with images of confident women in powerful roles. My favorite illustration is the map of the United States that has an array of diverse people from all corners of the world.

This is a wonderful introduction for children regarding what the responsibilities of a President should be towards his or her constituents and fellow citizens. The most important aspects of leadership are held up to indicate what the qualities of a good president might be. …., this is an important little book for children to read. The icing on the cake is the diversity element which is handled well, with really nice accompanying illustrations. Highly recommended.

You had me at "When"! Positively written and beautifully illustrated. When she becomes president, she will listen, be honest, fair, she believes in freedom, opportunities, safety, courage, world peace, gives hope and cares about the environment. I would definitely add this book to my child's library collection.

What an absolutely perfect children's book! I requested this advanced reader's copy to see if it might be something I could share with my niece and nephew... And I certainly will be doing just that! This book's theme is centered on empowerment, breaking barriers, and allowing little girls and children to envision themselves in a big, world-changing position, like the President of the United States. Not only does the book open a child's eyes to see herself in this role, but it helps to teach children the traits of a good leader -- like hope, fairness, equal representation,

honesty, solving problems, listening, and having good communication. The book's style is simple, so it's an easy read at bedtime for young children. Its sentences also leave plenty of room for discussions, to share more personal stories between parents and children. The illustrations are beautifully done and are fun to look at too. I would highly recommend this book to ANYONE with young children who are curious, who have big dreams, or who need a reminder that the sky is the limit when it comes to their dreams for their futures

I loved this book. As a boy mom its my responsibility to raise my son right and I think this book portrays the changes in society and that women can do anything. I would love to purchase this for my son and read it to him soon!

My favorite of the four book series of which I've read two. I absolutely loved that everything being taught can be done whether you are President or not. The story can easily be read aloud. The illustrations are lovely. They warrant a look by themselves. I read the book, then flipped happily through enjoying each picture. The color palette is warm and inviting. I would gift this to a teacher, young person, nursery, and or a Sunday School class.

They will connect with her messages of inclusion, peace and support. The text is simple to follow and elementary level readers will be able to read to themselves or with others. They showcase a diverse cast of people and also many iconic American monuments. I enjoyed seeing the portrait of Ruth Bader Ginsburg in the Oval Office! Kids soak up so much information through all sorts of media, so filling their world with examples of strong female leadership is vital. In addition to being empowering for girls, the character traits that make for an inspiring and worthwhile leader are illustrated in ways that kids can understand. They will be encouraged to emulate the characteristics that make a great leader, no matter where their path takes them. When I'm the President is a must for every school and public library shelf.

I loved how not only did this book talk about the good qualities a leader should have, but it also showed all of the different types of people and concerns people have. Amazing!!!! The story is simple enough to captivate kids this age but conveys such an important message - and the illustrations are top-tier. The way the phrases are structured ('When I'm the President...") really help the child with visualising what it's like to be a great leader. Very important in today's world.

I love the message in When I'm the President. It shows that it is possible for a girl to grow up to be President and also gives good leadership qualities a person of leadership should have. The illustrations are very colorful and vibrant and draw your eyes around the page. Girls need more books like this to see they can be anything they want to be.
