Set decades after an event known as World War X, a former soldier named Zimmery Mac searches for his missing six-year-old daughter during the winter months; but the snow comes to life and kills any human who disturb it. Before Zimmery embarks on his journey to find his daughter Lane, two of his in-laws end up dead in his own house. Zimmery suspects that the culprit is Bob: the abusive boyfriend of one of the in-laws. But several relatives—residing with him during the inclement season—claims he is innocent. In order to protect the rest of his household, Zimmery forces Bob and the two eldest members of his extended family to come with him on his search for Lane. Emotions run high as Zimmery draws closer to uncovering the truth. And when emotions arise, so does body heat, and when body heat arises, so does the snow’s appetite for flesh. To satisfy its hunger, the snow creates tentacles, icy fangs, and pits with icicle teeth to catch its prey. And that hunger will be satisfied, when Zimmery discovers Lane’s boot in the middle of the snow, next to a figurine of a snowman, with the words, “I’m back.” written in blood. Zimmery thus realizes that if he fails to find Lane in time, her fate will be far worse than the carnivorous snow taking their lives.
