One picture "Solitary Tree in Snowy Landscape" (picture is not showing here)and with my dialogue Maybe, we all need to accept our fate and resign to working hard to make a living. When I was little, I often wondered why I wasn’t born, with a gold spoon in my mouth, into a regal wealthy family. After many years of vicissitudes, I have come to the realization that this is a matter of fate. We all have our fates, and all seem to be predetermined at birth。 I am thinking there is an invisible force in the universe guiding us. This force doesn’t have a name, so called it GOD for the time being. I believe GOD is watching over us - our every moves; every steps We shouldn’t hold grudge against anyone, nor envy anyone, but carry on working hard, making the best out of life. Just like a philosopher once said: “knowing there is nothing can be done, but to bow to one's lot。” Once I watched the performance of a vagrant in a TV Talent Shows. This vagrant was an escapee from an orphanage many years ago. He supported himself by selling chewing gums on the streets. He squatted in the public restrooms, slept in the underpasses. One day while standing on the sidewalk outside a bar he heard someone singing an opera and suddenly he was astounded. He realized that he had found the thing he craved most in life. Immediately he began practicing opera singing. Even thought he could not reach the level of a professional singer, but he just loved to sing. After listening to him singing the Italian song “Nella Fantasia”, I can’t help but burst into tears. Not only because this is my most beloved song; also because I heard him singing with heart and soul, lamenting his life with such helplessness, yet full of indignation, passion and pride. Like the solitary tree in this photo, standing in the vast snowy landscape, fighting the bitter cold, without the empathy or care from anyone. Yet it doesn’t give up on any chance of life; quietly diligently deepen its roots. As if there is a springtime fantasy, beautiful, warm and bountiful, ceaselessly calling him night and day…. This photo was shot near Byron Center, Michigan in February, 2010. To seek the best angle and lighting condition, I come here 2 – 3 times a year to check on this tree. But it was blown down by strong wind in 2016 and was gone forever. (Nikon D300, Nikon lens f/2.8 80-200mm, @100mm with f/9 and 1/320, ISO-200)
