Writing became a natural progression after retiring from teaching high school English and Music. Beverley Hopwood has travelled extensively since her teen years and continues to use these experiences to broaden her view of the world. Several Habitat for Humanity builds helped develop new cultural understanding as well. An interest in history initiated her genealogical research, leading her to write two literary genealogical narratives, followed by a novella set in the far north, a historical YA novel, and a memoir. Beverley continues to work in various genres. She belongs to two writers' groups who share and critique each other's work.
