C. L. Standley received BS degrees in Science Education and General Science from Oregon State University. She worked as a research assistant in many scientific fields of study: oceanography, forestry sciences, horticulture, and the Environmental Protection Agency.

She spent many years reading and re-reading her most beloved epic fantasy fiction. Writing fantasy fiction has become her passion and this book is her story of magic, exploration, adventure, heroism, and first love. Originally written twenty years ago, the author resurrected this novel for her enjoyment.

She lives in Corvallis, Oregon with her husband.
