No stranger to Hollywood, author Howard Decker was a general assignment reporter for a major Los Angeles metropolitan newspaper in 1958, a time he recollelcts as the "end of the Raymond Chandler era."
"I spent many a night traveling down what iconic mystery writer Chandler called the 'mean streets' of Holywood," Decker said.
"I saw the dead bodies and broke lives of Tinseltown for myself."
Decker personally knew and interviewed many reporters, editors, policemen, gangsters, gangster molls, film stars and studio personnel who lived through the dangerous and rowdy times during World War II."
