Originally from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Canfield is a graduate of Northwestern University and has lived in Detroit, Michigan; New York City; Miami, Florida; and Auckland, New Zealand. He now resides in Long Beach, California with with his writer wife Lisa and dog Betsy.
