Julie L’Enfant has had extensive experience in teaching and writing and writes both fiction and critical studies. She has written several novels and non-fiction works on art history. Her first novel, The Dancers of Sycamore Street (1983), was republished in 2019. Her previous books include The Gag Family: German-Bohemian Artists in America (2002) and Pioneer Modernists: Minnesota’s First Generation of Women Artists (2011), both winners of a Minnesota Book Award. Her most recent book is Hazel Belvo: A Matriarch of Art (2020). Former professor of art history at the College of Visual Arts in St. Paul, Minnesota, she is now a freelance writer and editor. She holds Ph.D. degrees in literature and art history. Music and movies are among her special interests.
