He worked in the UK, Canada, the USA and Australia in nuclear, tar sands, petroleum, coal and coal-to-oil industries.
He travelled in Central and South America and sailed by yacht from Rio to Trinidad.
He settled in Australia with his family and worked as an evaluation engineer for coal mining projects . At age 40 he became a high school Science and English teacher. He wrote curriculum materials for teaching multistrand science to senior students by distance education and taught students in classes online.
He is divorced from two marriages, with children and grandchildren.
He is active in public decision-making on development, population, growth, water and resources issues and he has written a series of futuristic political thrillers yet to be published. His speculative fiction novel The Grass Is Always Browner was published by Zeus Publications in 2011.
He is interested in psychology and relationships. He is currently writing a crime fiction novel. He is involved with writers' groups, book clubs, current affairs discussion groups and art.
