Growing up in the Wisconsin Northwoods, Melody, A Scout (no, that’s not a typo) found both a playground and a classroom in the natural world. Her enchantment with the mysterious magical world of nature is best described in a passage from her book: “Entering the woods as an elementary-school-aged child, I found something wild was unleashed in me, something both fresh and ancient, surfacing as an aching memory deep within my bones. The wildness of the natural world continues to beckon me.
"I seem incapable of resisting the delight and wonder provided by Mother Earth. In the forests, I find remembrances of solace and healing, of hope and beauty, even in the bleakest times.”
Later in life, a book on Plant Spirit Medicine, a gift from a friend, would change her life in a profound and personal way. Today, Melody, a self-described scout of the inner and outer landscapes, enjoys her work as author, teacher, speaker, coach, plant medicine healer, and landscape designer and consultant. Her personal relationship with plants, healing, and nature were her inspiration during the seven-year journey in writing Soul of the Seasons: Creating Balance, Resilience, & Connection by Tapping the Wisdom of the Natural World.
She lives in Northern Florida where she teaches workshops on the healing properties of plants and on the principles of the Five Elements as presented in her book. She continues to draw inspiration for her writing and her personal life through her plant friends in the natural world.
