My childhood home was nestled in Matilija Canyon, a remote area outside of Ojai, CA. My home was secluded which granted a unique and enchanting place to grow up. It is no wonder that my work is filled with its imagery. My earliest writings of poetry began as early as elementary school. It is a realized talent that has remained throughout my life. I began writing poetry as a means to cope with verbal and emotional abuse I endured at home. Even after leaving home toxic relationships remained, as one tends to seek what is familiar. In my mid twenties I became aware of the abusive nature of most of the relationships in my life. That awareness enabled me to make a dramatic change. The toxic relationships I once had are now in the past, but such relationships can leave us with scar. Through much introspection and diligent expression through writing, many of the hard feelings that come from the end of these relationships, have been made into beautiful poetry. Through The Trees presents the collective work of a lifetime of heartache and healing.
