I was born in the Czech Republic (Czechoslovakia back then) where we lived with my grandmother. She DID wear a wig and was the inspiration for the first WIG book. I was both intrigued and terrified of that wig when I was a kid.

My family immigrated to the States when I was ten. (Ten was NOT a good year for me.)

I was a high-school teacher and an avid reader until I became a full-time mom. Now all I do is change stinky diapers. I have three very energetic young kids and an old French Bulldog named Zoe.

I have a Bachelor's degree from the Univ. of Illinois (in Champaign) and a teaching certificate from Elmhurst College. I would have a Master's from the School of the Art Institute in Chicago had I finished that pesky thesis. (I chose to write THE WIG books instead.) I also studied literature at the Sorbonne in Paris but that was a million years ago.
