Ambassador (Dr.) Robin Renee Sanders served as one of the U.S. Government’s top diplomats on African issues over a long career in the United States Diplomatic Corps with senior positions ranging from Ambassador to the Republics of Nigeria and the Congo, two stints as Director for Africa at the White House, and the U.S. Permanent Representative to the West African Regional Organization ECOWAS. Dr. Sanders received her doctorate degree from Pittsburgh’s Robert Morris University and is a thought leader on today's Africa political, economic, and security issues. She has testified before the U.S. Congress on these topics, and her firm is a member of the US Chamber of Commerce. Her advisory firm is divided into two parts: FEEEDS Advocacy Initiative covering economic, sustainable development (SDGs), poverty alleviation, Africa Diaspora and SMEs, and has a speaker’s bureau; and, FE3DS, LLC on Africa business strategies on Africa trade, technology, power, aviation, and housing. FEEEDS also serves as advisor and board member to several organizations. Dr. Sanders’ new book, “The Rise of Africa’s Small and Medium Size Enterprises,” focuses on the impact of Africa's small businesses on development and growing the middle class. She has presented at two TEDxTalks on endangered African cultural practices and positive impact of Africa’s small businesses (SMEs) on the region’s development. Her expertise on national security and military strategies is based on serving as the International Affairs, Africa Advisor and Deputy Commander of the Eisenhower Resource College of the National Defense University, the U.S. military's premier institution for national security studies, conflict resolution, and gaming for our next generation of military and diplomatic leaders. As a well-known Africa thought leader, she is sought after by media such as Al Jazeera, BBC, China Television, Voice of America, CNN, CNBC, etc., her regional first-hand political and economic knowledge, including on Boko Haram, Al Shabaab, and the growing terrorism threat in what she calls the “Sahel Extremism Belt.” Her breath of Africa experience extends to elections (including serving as an international election observer), democratic processes, food security, education, energy, and the environment/climate change. Sanders is the recipient of the U.S. military’s Joint Chiefs of Staff highest civilian honor award; serves on the U.S. Trade Representative Africa Advisory Committee; is a member of the prestigious and Academy of Diplomacy of former senior U.S. Government officials; recipient of the President's Medal of Honor from Congo; and has six Department of State Awards (Superior & Meritorious).
