Hello, I’m Susan MacIver. Most of my life I’ve been a desert rat and I love the sunny Southwest. I have to say that Arizona holds a special place in my heart for, like the mythical Firebird, Phoenix has helped me rise from the ashes more than once. Being surrounded by so much sand, it’s truly a mystery why I would choose to write about the ocean.
The funny thing is, I had never thought about writing anything other than grocery lists until one night, sharing wine with my sister, Cindy, she suggested that I write a book. And the magic words, “It should be about Atlantis,” sprang from her lips.
An incredible puzzle suddenly fell into place and I was off…in fits and starts and a lot of strange mutterings. I wrote the book and with all the wisdom of my age, THEN, decided to take a writing class. It’s the classic, “closing the barn door after the horse has escaped” syndrome.
Finding a Writing Mentor
Against the beautiful backdrop of Sedona, Arizona, I found my true mentor in Tom Bird and I will be forever thankful that I attended that free seminar…
Family Life
I am blessed with an incredible son, Eric, who has his own company in Los Angeles. He is following his passion as a director, cinematographer and screenwriter. And of course, he’s wonderful!
I am married to a singularly beautiful man, Duke, who has taught me more about unconditional love than any other human I’ve met. He is such a gift to me and I have been well and truly blessed with his advent into my life. We are sharing our adventure together in AZ. And we love it…yes, even the heat! Because, as we all know, it’s a DRY heat!
My Wish For You
It is my fervent hope that you will enjoy the story that bubbled up from…well, Poseidon only knows. And if I only have one wish, it would be to find that which brings your heart joy and spread that joy to those you touch.
With all my heartfelt love,
Susan
