Zandra Strother’s background is in clinical laboratory science as a biochemistry lab supervisor, associate professor, and market research manager. Her previous book was an examination review for students of medical technology. She created narratives for primary clinical research and supervised the compilation of data and narratives for LPA, New Jersey and IMS, Pennsylvania.
Since completing Stanford University’s OWC program, Zandra has done short play writing with Luna Stage, New Jersey and The New York Workshop Theatre’s Intergenerational, Mind the Gap program, NYC. She’s enjoyed attending a workshop with the Hurston/Wright Foundation, Washington, DC and online participation with the Black Women’s Writing Society, Indianapolis, IN. Her short story “A Wing and A Prayer Over Ohio” received and Honorable Mention from Writer’s Digest.
From her first home in Harlem, New York City, Zandra has visited several countries in Europe, Asia, the Caribbean, South America and Africa, as well as forty seven of the contiguous United States and Alaska. For Seven years she directed an annual week-long tour to Underground Railroad sites in North America. Researching for these tours and family experiences that emphasized the heritage of her Guyanese grandparents have added a wealth of knowledge and curiosity to the cultural mix of her blended nuclear family.
