What a unique way to learn the letters of the alphabet and extend a child’s vocabulary! This colorful picture book features four water creature friends who take their readers on a rhyming adventure through the land, water, and sea. Children hear crisp rhymes written using personification and onomatopoeia. The alphabet letters are highlighted in color which makes them easy to pick out. At the same time, children learn about science. For example, readers are introduced to the three states in which water may be found solid, liquid, and gas. They see examples of natural landmarks like Niagara Falls and get acquainted with the processes of evaporation and condensation. All the characters are delightful and fun.I would highly recommend this science picture book for ages three through eight. It is a book that children will grow into as their vocabulary and knowledge base increases. As an extra bonus, most pages contain an optional activity. Some of these are small science experiments, others are visual observations or sensory activities. This is a perfect book to add to a K-3 library or a home bookshelf to share with older siblings and parents.
