London, 2023, men from Britain, America and Russia conspire to assassinate the Russian head of state.
In Australia Mark Falcone, a courier for ASIO, is tasked with following a suspected terrorist to Singapore and onwards to Turkmenistan.
He blends in with a group of tourists, including a young American actress, Cassie Connolly, who claims to be psychic, and a Canadian Jewish lawyer, Hunter J. Brown.
By chance Mark meets a couple of Russian professors who say they are making a documentary film and ask him to assist with English sub-titles.
From his hotel room he sends emails to Canberra and is soon arrested by the authorities as a suspected spy. The British Embassy arranges his release.
Back in his hotel he is harassed by Cassie, who has a premonition of murder and Hunter J. Brown who demands to know about the Russian professors.
A British Trade Mission arrives, and Mark gradually comes to realize what is going on.
Then, unexpectedly, somebody is murdered. Mark is re-arrested, charged with murder and locked in a police cell.
Cassie, with British support, tries something truly amazing to help him escape. The whole affair culminates in a trial at the Old Bailey back in London.
