The family is impacted by the Avars, the Great Moravian Empire, the Magyars and the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The author obviously did extensive research on Eastern European history as it evolved over the centuries.
It was fascinating how the author transports the reader to the times when actual historical events occurred. The author also explains the significant role that Christianity and other religions played in the development of Eastern Europe. The transportation and explanations were enhanced by the intriguing dialogue between the characters.
