THE CASTING COUCH AND ME – THE UNINHIBITED MEMOIRS OF A YOUNG ACTRESS The Casting Couch and Me follows a young actress’s experiences with the casting couch while searching for acting work in the ‘biz’. That young actress was me – 18 years old and fresh of the boat from England- full of enthusiasm – carrying my acting portfolio in one hand and dreams of elusive stardom in the other. But soon my dreams of stardom collided with reality and the Casting Couch creeps. These creeps want nothing more than a quick release - Supply and Demand, Give and Take, Buyers and Sellers. They can make or break a young actress – not only her career but also her self confidence. I hope I tell my story with frankness and candor – with humor - whilst not skimming over the heartbreaks and disappointments. This story is my own and sadly it is that of thousands of others. The Casting Couch was very much alive 40 years ago and sad to say was as ‘hush hush’ then as it was today. For now these stories are exploding. I give a ‘shout out’ to all the women who have joined the voices of #metoo so that their stories may be heard.
