Uncommon Relations
Part 2 of this two-book psychological mystery finds Terry with his returning wife, Gudrun, in their small spare bedroom where he's planned a shock confrontation. But this backfires in the face of her devastating revelations. Terry suffers both guilt and outrage, contemplating the labyrinth of mysteries and misdeeds. He's not been any kind of hero but he's far more wronged than wrong. Just when a desirable life like his twin's was almost within reach, Gudrun forces excruciating dilemmas, making him fear losing everything dear to him. Yet more problematic twists of fate challenge him and a good resolution seems totally beyond reach. He must uncover an identity he can value. A satisfying outcome is left to the last pages, but a scarcely predictable threat may lurk in the dark.

Along with fellow readers of Part 1, I have been queueing to get back into that spare bedroom at Colliers Row. How wonderful at last to download Part 2, and Minett does not disappoint. Yet more ethical conundrums are piled at Terry’s feet. The poor man is left skittering on the edge of sanity whilst the melting pot of dilemmas thickens. All is brought to a ferocious boil. Resolution seems totally beyond reach, and yet with crafty ingenuity a most unexpected yet satisfying conclusion is reached. Bravo!
